Opal
M/Y Opal is a 70-meter yacht concept distinguished by calm and elegant lines designed to work in harmony with the marine environment. The design philosophy embraces organic lines that follow the flow of waves and clouds, creating a vessel that appears sculpted by natural forces. The considered use of materials—wood, glass, and metal elements—contributes to the clean, sophisticated aesthetic.
sculpted by natural forces
The project name reflects the gemstone opal, symbolizing protection, cheerfulness, optimism, and creativity—qualities embodied in both the yacht’s design and intended onboard experience. With a length overall of 70 meters, waterline length of 63.4 meters, and 13-meter beam overall, Opal maintains a maximum draft of 3.15 meters for harbor accessibility while offering an estimated gross tonnage exceeding 1,360 GT.
The layout incorporates signature Mulder Design elements, including flared bulwarks forward on the upper decks that improve bridge wing visibility and expand deck area around the owner’s suite positioned forward on the upper deck. The upper deck features a guest sky lounge aft, though this space could be reconfigured to create an expansive private owner area with large aft deck and forward cockpit lounge.
alfresco dining
The main deck forward accommodates six luxurious guest doubles with elevated views, while the main deck aft houses a sumptuous saloon and dining area leading to a multi-zone aft deck featuring bar, alfresco dining, and lounge areas. The lower deck is dedicated primarily to crew facilities, including cabins, mess, main galley, and technical spaces.
intimate observation deck
The top deck contains the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin alongside an aft sundeck area. A unique feature is the intimate observation deck positioned in front of the mast, complete with spa pool. The stern features a substantial beach club with glass doors opening onto a generous swim platform enhanced by a large transformer platform for optimal water access.
A transverse garage accommodates various tenders and toys, while the foredeck serves as a touch-and-go helipad. Project Opal represents a comprehensive approach to luxury yacht design where natural aesthetics meet functional excellence.
