SeaShaw II

SeaShaw II is a 51.93-meter superyacht built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in China and launched in June 2003, with comprehensive design by Mulder Design. This vessel represents a refined evolution from her successful predecessor, SeaShaw I (145ft), which served the same owner exceptionally well over more than 100,000 miles of cruising.

reducing ship motion both underway and at anchor

The primary design focus was reducing ship motion both underway and at anchor in exposed bays, achieved through advanced active and passive roll dampening equipment. The most significant change from the original was adopting steel hull construction, while maintaining FRP sandwich construction for the superstructure to optimize strength, weight, and performance.

Powered by twin MTU 12V4000M60 engines producing 1,796 horsepower each, SeaShaw II achieves a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruises at 14 knots with an impressive 6,000-nautical-mile range. With full ABS classification, the yacht exemplifies how extensive real-world experience with a previous vessel can inform every aspect of designing a larger, more refined successor.

SeaShaw II stands as a testament to successful owner-builder relationships, where proven satisfaction leads to enhanced capability and comfort in the next generation of yacht design.
